A warm Christmas greeting from the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission! The month of December is the best month of the year to be a missionary because we are able to talk more freely to more people about C-H-R-I-S-T-mas. Today Sister Murray and I were watching the Christmas program of ourNorth and South Zones. Towards the end of the program, Sister Murray whispered in my ear, “I feel like a proud mother.”
We love your children who are serving so valiantly in our mission. We are so impressed by their willingness to serve the Lord with all their heart, might, mind and strength. And the growth we see in each of them is measurable and often remarkable. When one gives so freely in the service of the Lord, blessings seem to pour down from heaven abundantly.
This week we are having special Christmas Zone Meetings throughout the mission. They start each day at with training. Then at we have a Christmas program of music, speaking and other activities, created by the missionaries. At 12:30 we serve a delicious Christmas luncheon of honey baked ham, salad, a baked potato bar, rolls and Sister Murray’s famous homemade apple crisp. This is followed by indoor games and the distribution of gifts that have been sent from home. During the day I take time to have a personal interview with each missionary.
A lot of work goes into the preparation for each of these days – but it is well worth it because our missionaries are so special.
